Step 1: Your Assets
Step 2: Your Liabilities
Summary
Zakat is mandatory if your net wealth exceeds the Nisab threshold for one lunar year. This calculator uses the Silver Nisab (52.5 Tolas) as the common baseline.
Understanding Zakat in Pakistan
Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, representing a mandatory charitable contribution for every qualifying Muslim. Calculated at 2.5% of one's accumulated wealth, it is intended to purify wealth and provide support for the underprivileged segments of society.
What is Nisab?
Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a person must possess before Zakat becomes obligatory. In Pakistan, the Nisab is typically determined based on the price of silver (52.5 tolas) or gold (7.5 tolas). As silver prices are lower, the silver-based Nisab is often used to maximize the reach of Zakat benefits.
How to Calculate?
- Sum Assets: Include cash, bank balances, gold/silver value, and business stocks.
- Subtract Liabilities: Deduct immediate debts, ongoing bills, and business expenses.
- Check Nisab: If the remainder (Net Wealth) is above the threshold, multiply by 0.025.
